Today marks the first of the three year anniversaries. Three years ago today, I went for a lunchtime run with my friend, Amy. I could only go half a mile, before feeling like I was going to collapse. Little did I know that I had just stepped into the journey of a lifetime.
It is hard to remember, sometimes, who I was before all of this began. I know I miss that girl, and long to find her again. And yet, so much good has come out of this journey that could not have happened without the Leukemia and transplant. I’ve grown into much deeper friendships than I thought possible, and appreciate the many little things that most people overlook on a daily basis.
I still long for the girl I used to be, but I can’t say I’m disappointed in the woman I’ve become.
