This time last year, my mom visited me at the hospital, armed with two baskets and a shopping bag full of candy and toys. We spent the next hour putting together Easter Baskets for my two boys, since I wasn’t home to do it myself. I could not explain to her just how much that meant to me. For the first time since going into the hospital a month earlier, I felt like a mom again.
Today was spectacular. It was a sunny, 60-degree day, breezy and smelling of Spring. I heard my first woodpecker of the season, as I left my house to go grocery shopping this morning. Last year, I missed the entire season of Spring, imprisoned in my room.
This year, I baked homemade crescent rolls from scratch, coconut macaroons, birthday cupcakes, and dyed Easter Eggs…with my kids. I passed on traditions from my childhood, and we laughed and made messes and ate hot rolls from the oven, dripping with butter. What a difference a year makes.
There is *nothing* like the little moments in life, my friends. Please don’t let them pass you by. Be more patient with your loved ones… let them remember your laughter and love.
Now, off to go put together two Easter Baskets. π
